Next, pick your pot!
You want a snug fit for both the lid and the artichoke.
Fill the pot with ¼ inch of water and 3 Tablespoons of olive oil.
Make sure to check the pot every so often and refill water when needed-You need that water to steam the artichokes… no one likes hard dry artichokes!
Bring the water in the pot to a boil-then lower temperature to simmer and cook until leaves are tender and artichoke begins to spread apart on its own.
Usually takes an hour or two… I always encourage taste testing :P
Once done you can eat right away or cover and leave in your fridge.
I paired this dish with Grey Sail Brewing’s “Pour Judgment”.
The earthy fruity hops really paired well with this vegetable.
The bright, fruity, hops contrast with the oily earthy leaves; because of the contrasting flavors, but similar earthy notes you are really able to enjoy this brew’s full hop character. The breadcrumbs act as an awesome palate cleanser, making this a great combo!
